A Message of Thanks
“Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.”
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
This is one of my FAVORITE times of the year. Do you know why?
It's not because I love Christmas carols (although I do).
It's not because I love sappy holiday movies like It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story (although I do).
It's also not because I'm a sucker for staring at holiday lights on the tree while I sip hot cocoa, and cozying up in front of a warm fire (although, guilty on all counts).
This is one of my FAVORITE times of the year because it's when we're all reminded of one of the most important gifts of all: the gift of giving!
You see, I believe in the power of us. That we're all connected in a fundamental way in a never-ending chain of cause-and-effect that ripples out from us and back again and is undiminished by time or distance.
People who take home my paintings or ask me to do commissions for them often thank me for sharing my time and talents. A lot of the time, I feel like they have it backwards. I want to thank them for giving me this wonderful opportunity to share something special with them!
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy painting. The continuous process of learning and problem solving required to get a painting to come out just right is addictive. Having someone choose to buy my art is great too. But at least as important for me, is the immense satisfaction that comes whenever I see someone appreciate one of my artworks.
It’s not just commissions (although the personalization definitely helps!). But when someone has that burst of excitement and enthusiasm when they see a painting and it resonates with their heart and soul; when they have that moment of falling in love with the piece, it is impossible for me to not share in the glow of those emotions. And always, that gorgeous firelight of love finds its way back to me, where it warms my heart and rekindles the fires of hope and excitement. It feels good to have made someone’s day a little brighter.
So, please believe me when I say THANK YOU for allowing me to connect with you in this way. It's truly the most wonderful gift I could ever ask for and I am incredibly grateful to you for it. I deeply appreciate all of you who have purchased, liked or even just looked at and enjoyed my art this year.
I also hope that my messages have helped spark the fires of love in your heart this holiday season. And that your spark blooms into a gorgeous fire that warms you and your loved ones long into the New Year!
All my best to you and yours - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Barbara
In other news...
Now that the gifts have been given, I can share with you the Christmas commissions I’ve been working on recently! They have all gone to very special homes and I couldn’t be more delighted!
What’s next?
Several more commissions are getting prepped now and I’m working on something special to include in the big annual juried show for the local art league.
More to come, so stay tuned!
Please feel free to share this with anyone you think might enjoy this message or my art!
